The College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at ֦Ƶ, Dominguez Hills is proud to announce the launch of its new TEACH UP Certificate Program, designed to support aspiring educators and create meaningful career pathways for current school district employees.
The TEACH UP Certificate provides foundational knowledge and practical skills to prepare participants for teaching roles in today’s diverse classrooms, and for meeting the needs of students of color. Uniquely, the program is intentionally designed to uplift and support individuals already working within school systems—including classified staff, paraprofessionals, and support personnel—who are ready to take the next step into teaching.
As schools across the region continue to face educator shortages, programs like TEACH UP play a critical role in building a sustainable and community-rooted teacher pipeline.
“It’s important that educators not only work to improve their own mental, emotional, and physical health, they should also understand how various experiences affect the mental, emotional, and physical health of the students they teach,” said Dr. Devin Beasley, Program Director of the Teach-Up Certificate and CalTPA Coordinator.
“TEACH UP is designed to do just that. It emphasizes the cultivation of caring and compassionate relationships, wellness practices, and modeling healthy habits in learning environments - for self and more importantly, for K-12 students from typically underserved or underrepresented populations.“
Through a flexible and career-focused curriculum, participants engage in applied learning experiences that emphasize instructional strategies, classroom engagement, and real-world application. The program is designed to be accessible for working professionals, making it especially valuable for those balancing full-time roles within school districts.
The Teach-Up Certificate aligns with ֦Ƶ’s broader mission to expand access to education and workforce development opportunities while addressing urgent community needs.
“Educators who come from our school communities bring invaluable perspectives and a personal commitment to their classrooms,” said Jessica Panda, Dean of the College of Education.
“The Teach-Up Certificate reflects our intentional effort to invest in those individuals—supporting their growth, honoring their experience, and helping them transition into impactful teaching careers.”
֦Ƶ’s CCPE has a long-standing history of offering industry-aligned certificate programs that support career advancement and lifelong learning. The Teach-Up Certificate builds on this legacy by providing an accessible entry point into the teaching profession while strengthening partnerships with local schools and districts.
Schools, districts, and community organizations are encouraged to collaborate with ֦Ƶ to promote the program and support educator pipeline initiatives that prioritize equity, access, and local talent development.
